Emotional baggage is one of the best kinds of carry-ons to bring with you while heading toward the mobbed, sun-damaged terminals of contemporary music, but Maurice Fulton is the type who would take the belief a little too literally. He's fled to Australia, created a new pseudonym, vegged out to Finnish avant-garde jazz, and constructed electronic laments about his ex-girlfriend just so he can feel a sense of release and successfully depress everybody else around him. The first single off of the Stories of a Broken Heart & Recovering concept album, "Yesterday Has Gone" disguises this sort of festering aggressiveness with a perplexingly indistinct display of progressive house and sub-Orb cul-de-sacs, which makes the end result -- despite its source material -- far from a digitized equivalent of "No Distance Left to Run."
