This very obscure European album has veteran cornetist Wild Bill Davison jamming eight Dixieland standards with an excellent seven-piece group under the leadership of trumpeter Valdemar Rasmussen. None of the European players became well known in the U.S. but they fare quite well in this setting. Davison was still in his prime, and his interplay with Rasmussen and his typically exciting solos are a joy to hear. Among the highlights are "Royal Garden Blues," "Big Butter and Egg Man" and "I'm Crazy 'Bout My Baby." This is fun music that deserves to be reissued and made available domestically.
