This is a superb collection of golden-oldie hits delivered with flair and passion by the ever so romantic Percy Sledge. Including such great love songs as "Tell It Like It Is," "When a Man Loves a Woman," and "Try a Little Tenderness," these melodies are sure to strike a tender tear among those falling in or out of love. Most of these songs were written, arranged, and recorded by other great stars of the era, including Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, adding even more legendary flair to these unmistakable songs. The relaxed and casual "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" reflects many memories for those who have passed the time away near bay docks, or just sitting on a park bench during a hot day in the busy city. A compelling tune that can be considered more a rarity is the somber "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right," sure to set a mood of longing during the late-night hours. A beautiful and revealing song is the charming "Take Time to Know Her." Listeners should take precious time get to know this album, for this is no overnight fling.
