What You Do to Me, the second single from Teenage Fanclub's breakthrough Bandwagonesque, is without a doubt the most sublime 16-word love song ever written. A wonderfully stupid, sappy, and sloppy pop singalong, it's here in two versions, one the original LP cut and another that appends the closing riff of the grungy instrumental "Satan." The rest of this six-song maxi-single is equally strong, bolstered by covers of Madonna's "Like a Virgin" and T. Rex's "Life's a Gas" as well as a pair of Gerard Love originals, "Maharishi Dug the Scene" and "Long Hair." As B-sides go, all of them are far better than most bands' top-shelf material.
