It's anybody's guess who the actual performers are on this album, credited to the Stage Door Orchestra. They sound like a professional company, and the singing and playing are not bad at all. The "highlights" tag comes because the score is missing several songs, notably "Gee, Officer Krupke!," "The Jet Song," and "America." The opening track is billed as "Overture America," but that is inaccurate; "America" is not performed at all. Adding to this carelessness over titles is the second track, which is "Something's Coming," even though the album's back cover calls it "Something's Gone"! A consumer looking for a low-cost recording of some of the music from West Side Story and not caring who the performers are would find that recording here. But this can't be recommended over any of the far more worthy versions that preceded it.
