On this excellent LP one gets to hear the overlooked and under-recorded Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra of 1943-44 on some strong jazz-oriented performances (with only one vocal) originally recorded for V-Discs and not released commercially. A special bonus are three selections from 1945 that find the Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey Orchestras playing together noisily but with coherence. It was The Dorsey brothers' first musical reunion since their breakup a decade earlier. Overall this is a fine LP of late-period swing.
