AllMusic Review by

Comprised of what the band refers to as "re-evaluated, re-worked and re-energized" versions of some its best-known works, Unplugged and Strung Up offers up 14 re-imagined classics from the veteran New Wave of British Heavy Metal outfit, five of which ("Crusader," "The Eagle Has Landed," "Red Star Falling," "Broken Heroes," and "Call to Arms") feature evocative orchestral elements. A double-disc version of the collection also includes 2002's Heavy Metal Thunder, which features re-recorded versions of Saxon staples like "Power & the Glory," "Motorcycle Man," "Strong Arm of the Law," and the anthemic title track.
