On one of Bill Evans' final recordings (a live set from England made just six weeks before his death), the innovative and highly influential pianist is in fine form, emphasizing more introspective material. Evans and his last trio (which also includes bassist Marc Johnson and drummer Joe LaBarbera) formed a brilliant and highly intuitive unit, as can be heard on such numbers as "Turn Out the Stars," "My Romance" and "Two Lonely People." Although it does not reach the emotional heights of his slightly earlier Dreyfus set Letter to Evan and the Warner Bros. box, this music should be of great interest to Bill Evans collectors.
