Sonrise Sunset attempts to move mainstream hip-hop forward by blending elements of East and West Coast together. Their intentions may be very good, but the end result often sounds a bit like a parody, especially with songs like "Havana Trump," "Hawaii 5-0" and "Nitty Gritty Bang Bang." Still, there are points where the duo pulls it off, combining the funkiness of Cali with the swift street rhymes of NY. They do it often enough to keep Turn of the Century an interesting listen and promising debut.
