In 2000, Vicor Music Corporation released Tuloy Pa Rin (It Still Continues), a compilation album containing songs recorded by the Philippine group Neocolours for the label. The music of Neocolours is pleasant and tuneful, somewhat rooted in easy listening, but containing a harder edge and a more interesting approach than heard in typical easy listening music. The music can even be called pop in some instances. A comparison is warranted on some songs to that of American pop/rock band Survivor.
The music of Neocolours is often made distinctive by adventurous instrumentation, most notably the searing electric guitar heard on such songs as "I Can't Wait," "Tuloy Pa Rin," and "All Night," among others. A fanciful string section livens up "Tuloy Pa Rin," and a horn section (presumably played on keyboard synthesizer) adds spice to "Hold On." The singing of lead vocalist Ito Rapadas is strong and contains depth and passion. The vocals (background) are also distinctive and harmonious. Neocolours has two excellent songwriters, lead singer Rapadas and keyboardist Jimmy Antiporda, whose compositions provide a strong foundation for the band's music.
A number of the 16 songs on this compilation have American Top 40 potential, including the standout "Hold On," which has a very strong melodic hook in the chorus; the spirited "I Can't Deny," which also boasts a strong hook; as well as the upbeat "All Night" and the soulful "Only Love."
