Tremble Under Boom Lights is a dynamic mini-LP, showcasing Jonathan Fire*Eater's intensely stylish, bluesy garage-rock revival. Occasionally, the band's ambitions outweigh their achievements and they rely too much on style, not sound, but that's part of the point -- it's about the kitsch as much as the riffs. Even with such minor flaws, Tremble Under Boom Lights is a ferocious record, amply demonstrating that the group is the equal of such post-alternative retro stylists as the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and the Makeup.
