Noiseworks became instant stars when their self-titled debut appeared in 1987. Their follow-up, Touch, saw them attempting to consolidate their popularity. Unfortunately, Touch was not a good enough album to help Noiseworks improve their profile.
With few exceptions, the songs miss the mark. The title track is excellent in a bombastic kind of way, and "In My Youth" was another standout. But by and large, the album fails to deliver on the promise of Noiseworks. The appealing rough edges of the debut have been smoothed and polished for Touch, resulting in just another album of radio-friendly pop tunes, rather than the hard rock the band excelled at.
