AllMusic Review by

Proponents of inspirational country's neo-traditional sound might find Danny Flowers an act that needs little cultivation beyond what his 58 years have already seen. There is so much charm on Flowers' third album that those without any previous inclination toward the low-key, non-glittery version of country could easily get sucked in as well. Flowers' voice is an acquired taste, but it is his personalized walk of life to which believers have found themselves relating easily. The theme is one of a man who has seen the light and has corrected his own path. Thus when he sings "I tried in vain through all the pain/One good Lord to be found" ("Ungodly"), one can trust that he is not merely paraphrasing the sentiments of singer/songwriters gone by. Emmylou Harris adds an enchanting duet line on the title cut and "Prayer Song."
