AllMusic Review by

When it comes to a soothing, ethereal female vocalist, A.C. Marias is like a new Liz Fraser, even singing recognizable English (sorry, Cocteau Twins fans). Marias has this uncanny effect, like a hypnotist's motherhood mantra or something. Floating along with her is a striking sh-sh-shimmering soundtrack woven splendidly by the all-star soundscape masters, the formidable collaboration of Bruce Gilbert (Wire), Roland S. Howard (Birthday Party), Barry Adamson (Magazine/Nick Cave), and two others. Hard to believe this is a Canned Heat cover. Beautiful Canned Heat? Ludicrous but true! What next, This Mortal Coil doing AC/DC?
