Before the Moody Blues broke through to an international audience with their trademark mixture of psychedelia, progressive rock, and pop on the classic 1967 LP Days of Future Passed, they were a tough but tuneful British R&B band, featuring Denny Laine on guitar and vocals. This early incarnation of the Moody Blues scored a hit single with the tune "Go Now," which rose to the American Top Ten in 1965, but Laine left the Moodys in 1966 when he and his bandmates had trouble coming up with a suitable follow-up, and the Moody Blues set out in a new direction when John Lodge and Justin Hayward joined the band later the same year. Time Is on My Side is a ten-song sampler of the group's early R&B-influenced material, including "Go Now," "I Don't Mind," "Something You Got," "Steal Your Heart Away," and more.
