Even through the Chinese invasion and the infamous Cultural Revolution, Tibetan people have been able to maintain most of their traditions. We can find a number of CDs of Tibetan music on the market, but most of these present the sacred music of the Buddhist faith, while secular music such as the music, songs, and dances of the nomads or the urban folk music is rarely recorded and is almost unknown. This CD is closing this gap by presenting songs and dances from Tibetan nomads from different regions, as well as from urban people. This excellent CD gives us a rarely heard glimpse of the traditional music of an oppressed people strong enough to maintain their traditions.
