AllMusic Review by

This is a very significant ragtime album, for unlike his other two Stomp Off LPs, David Thomas Roberts here exclusively performs his own rags. One of the major ragtime composers on the contemporary scene, Roberts is creative within the style and his work is full of picturesque melodies, stretching the framework of ragtime but still staying tied to the tradition. Among the 11 titles on this important set are "Through the Bottomlands," "Poplarville," "Lily Langtry Comes to the Midwest," and "The Early Life of Larry Hoffer."
