The Vehicle Birth put out this excellent record on Crank some time in 1998. It has enough emotional bite and melancholy overtones to win over any sensitive indie-rock crowd. The song on this EP entitled "Toronto" manages to do nearly exactly the same thing, except it's a little more on the laid-back, midtempo side -- something comparable to Drive Like Jehu without the screaming or constant feedback. On the other hand, the Wicked Farleys deliver the quirky instrumental "How's My Driving," something which is the antithesis of the Vehicle Birth, with four guitars and all. Interesting, but nothing mind-blowing.
