The second volume of Collectables' Ultimate Jukebox Hits of the '80s features an assortment of singles that were popular on R&B radio stations -- most of which were released during the first half of the decade. These selections are either best left in the decade from which they came, or they continue to sound as fresh as the first time you heard them. DeBarge's "Rhythm of the Night" is the most extreme example of a song that hasn't aged well, though it could trigger fond memories. Rick James' "Give It to Me Baby," Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Love Come Down," Jocelyn Brown's "Somebody Else's Guy," and the Gap Band's "Early in the Morning" sound spectacular decades after the fact and provide enough reasons to pick this disc up. Though none of these selections are hard to come by -- many are found on countless other comps, after all -- this volume is one of the more notable ones in Collectables' series due to the non-haphazard way in which the tracks were assembled together.
