It may be hard to believe, but The String Quartet Tribute to Yanni is not a bad album -- not by any means. In fact, this may be preferable to most of his recorded output to a lot of listeners. Where keyboards and rock instruments mixed with an orchestra may give this music the dramatic flourishes that make it seem so grand, with a quartet it becomes obvious that a simple group of four can make the same sort of noise. Of course, this would take the mystique out of Yanni's television specials, but this music is perfectly fine without the lasers and pageantry. Fans of Yanni will probably enjoy this, and even non-fans may want to give this a chance.
