Unlike most Asian improv releases, this one is more bop-oriented rather than being avant-garde or incorporating Chinese and Japanese instruments. Bob Kenmotsu has strong sounds on tenor and soprano and is joined by pianist Joel Weiskopf, Ira Coleman or Kiyoshi Kitagawa on bass, Billy Hart or Paul Samuels on drums, and percussionist Sam Turner. In swinging and creative fashion, the quintet performs five Kenmotsu originals plus "Flamingo," "Don't Take Your Love From Me," and "I Cried for You."
