AllMusic Review by

In 1970, Earl Hines was persuaded to do new versions of the eight solo performances that he had recorded at the beginning of his career, 42 years earlier. Some of these songs (most notably "Chimes in Blues," "Chicago High Life," and "Panther Rag") he had rarely played since the 1920s but, after a quick listen to the original recordings, he came up with new and exciting interpretations. This LP contains one of Earl Hines' finest recordings of his comeback years, although, unfortunately, it is not yet available on CD.
