Limited to production of only 2,500, Varese Sarabande's Varese Vintage label has taken the iconic Cash's seven full-length recordings for the equally iconic Sun label and put them into a limited-edition box that's not near as thrilling as the priceless work it houses -- Johnny Cash With His Red Hot and Blue Guitar, Johnny Cash Sings the Songs That Made Him Famous, Greatest, Johnny Cash Sings Hank Williams...and Other Favorite Tunes, Now Here's Johnny Cash, All Aboard the Blue Train With Johnny Cash, and The Original Sun Sound of Johnny Cash -- all were originally released between 1957 and 1964, and already re-released by Varese Sarabande in 2003, with original artwork and bonus tracks. Original Sun Albums: Complete Collection is merely a simple cardboard box -- no booklet or photos -- with those same reissues stuffed in it, but consumers save $10.00 or so by choosing it over each record individually. While the glamorous term "box set" may be pushing it a bit, listeners looking for somewhere to begin their love affair with the Man in Black, and who are willing to make a small investment -- roughly 60 dollars -- will be rewarded tenfold for starting here.
