AllMusic Review by

From the moment the band released their 18-times-platinum debut, 1987's Appetite for Destruction, it was clear that Guns N' Roses were destined to become one of the biggest bands in hard rock history. Known almost as much for their bad behavior off-stage as they were for their ripping performances on it, the band's storied history is laid out for listeners on The Lowdown. Made up of interviews and audio documentaries, this two-disc set lays out the Guns N' Roses story, from Axl Rose's childhood in Lafayette, Indiana to the band's parting of ways in the late '90s.
