Legacy is at it again: here are three Bob Dylan albums in a box. They are all consecutive: 1997's Time Out of Mind, 2001's Love and Theft, and 2006's Modern Times. The question is "Why?" Before Legacy did this, they issued Time Out of Mind and Love and Theft together. It's simple and overt marketing without strategy. If you are a fan, you have these and there is absolutely nothing special about the presentation. If you don't, and are just finding out about the man -- hard to imagine but anything is possible -- then why would you start with three albums, let alone these three? The three-disc Dylan anthology issued at the close of 2007 is the perfect introduction. This is just pointless. The high star rating is for the music -- not this crummy package.
