21-track compilation of white folk blues from the early and mid-'60s, originally recorded for Prestige. Some of the top talents of that mini-genre are represented here, including Dave Van Ronk, Tom Rush, Geoff Muldaur, Tracy Nelson, Eric Von Schmidt, and Danny Kalb. This kind of white acoustic blues revivalism has fallen out of favor since the '60s, but it certainly played its role in bringing the blues to a wider audience. The performances are respectful and occasionally stirring. If you want just a mild dose instead of entire albums by the above artists, this is a good pickup.
