AllMusic Review by

A much better sequel than Blues Brothers 2000, The Best of the Blues Brothers is a trove of information for fans, as well as providing 14 live videos of some of the band's best recordings. With Dan Aykroyd playing both himself and Elwood Blues, he recounts the history of the band, stopping along the way to introduce the music to interviewer Tom Davis. There's even a nice special effect, with Aykroyd and Elwood sitting across the table from each other. Included is the first appearance by the band (before publicly called the Blues Brothers) on Saturday Night Live, when the group donned full-body bee costumes to perform Slim Harpo's "I'm a King Bee." Overall, this is an exceptionally strong collection, and one that should please fans of the band.
