AllMusic Review by

This is one of five CDs (the others covering pianos, saxophones, singers and trumpets) put out by the Denon label and drawn partly from the catalog of Groove Merchant. A budget release, this set has a few numbers apiece from Benny Goodman (1958), Count Basie (early-'70s), Buddy Rich (one song from 1974), Woody Herman (1960), Harry James (a 1959 version of "Flying Home" with Jon Hendricks's vocal), Duke Ellington (1961) and Lionel Hampton (a 1974 runthrough on "Killer Joe"). None of this music is all that special; mostly worn out versions of greatest hits.
