AllMusic Review by

More comprehensive than all but a few Nat King Cole sets available, Prism's three-disc collection The Best of Nat King Cole: 75 Original Recordings is a valuable place to discover the material that made Cole one of the two or three heaviest influences on mid-20th century pop music (and definitely the most enjoyable to listen to). Virtually all of his best and most popular songs are represented -- although they're scattered throughout the three supposedly thematic discs -- and even if the sound doesn't approach the major-label Capitol sets available, the price makes it worthwhile for a budget-conscious listener. Nearly all of the recordings are from his prime (the 1940s and '50s), including "Unforgettable," "Route 66," "Straighten Up and Fly Right," "Nature Boy," "Mona Lisa," and "Too Young."
