Here is yet another multi-session batch in this series from Roy Harper, which uses both official and private sources to present a wide variety of performances from the BBC in 1974. The strange omission of a stunning version of "Me and My Woman" from the December 1974 John Peel show slightly mars this set, made all the more confounding by the fact that the compilers ignored this underground tape yet chose to include other private sources. Nothing is too out of the ordinary, and quite a few songs from earlier and future volumes are repeated. Get this one for the March 1974 version of "Highway Blues," the definitive take of this important Harper song. Harper's acoustic playing, although solo, sounds as if another guitarist is performing beside him. Especially live, 1974 was a peak year of sorts for Harper, and this set won't disappoint as a snapshot of this period.
