A very bizarre hodgepodge of songs from questionable sources comprises Tha Remix Album, an Eightball & MJG release in name only. For one, these aren't even Eightball & MJG songs. And for two, the "remix" concept isn't really an accurate billing, either. What Tha Remix Album is, in fact, is a ripoff. It's released by some fly-by-night label, SBR, and is allegedly "produced by T-Mix" and "courtesy of Suave House," or so the promotional sticker reads. There are no liner notes, no credits, nada. Sadly, this is just one of numerous ripoff Eightball & MJG albums out there. Why these guys from Memphis get their name and catalog pillaged to such an extent is a good question. In any event, don't waste your time with this. Sure, there's some good music here featuring some great performers (Rakim, Ice Cube, Mobb Deep, etc.), but it's so randomly compiled from various sources and of such illegitimate origin, it deserves to be boycotted. If you're a true fan of Eightball & MJG, you'll likely feel more outrage than enjoyment upon an initial listen of this cash-in attempt, which for all means and purposes is packaged misleadingly as a straightforward remix album.
