During the mid- to late '90s, everything Nettwerk released had a signature sound, and Boston's Manufacture slotted in quite nicely, with pulsing keyboards and precisely programmed beatboxes making everything perfectly danceable, while maintaining a slightly menacing feel. Not exactly groundbreaking stuff, but this album has one notable feature: the single "As the End Draws Near" featured guest vocals from Sarah McLachlan, in a hint of what would come later on McLachlan's own debut album.
