As with a Will Oldham disc, when first listening to Switzerland Heritage one comes to think that he has listened to another good album and that's all there is to it. That is only enlightened by further listening in which one grasps the real importance of the disc. The third album by the Parisian duo Switzerland Heritage, fortified by 14 delicious folk-rock songs, invites the listener to enter a real complex universe. Sad, emotive, and fragile -- the two brother guitarists display an undeniable songwriter talent. Nice original vocals, two intermingling guitars, drums, some arrangements (violin, organ and brass), and a huge sense of how to write songs -- all there is to make this album a masterpiece of the genre.
