Heavy, man, Bongzilla never made any secret about their band's raison d'etre; and with this reissue of their first EP and LP, the cat remains out of the dime bag. What gets lost in the weed worship however, is how great a band they are. More accessible than the Melvins, not quite as doomy as Earth and Sunn0))), and not as long-winded as Sleep, Bongzilla's riffs are pure next-gen Sabbath: heavy, ill, and headbanger friendly. STASH/METHODS OF ATTAINING EXTREME ALTITUDES captures the band's first mellow-harshing attacks and hits like a bowlful of resin.
