AllMusic Review by

With not many more toys than T. Spae, but definitely more E-music know-how comes Canadian Bruce Atchison with his latest release, Space Explorer. Bruce's music is often static in a sense, and lacks a budget to drive it through. Nonetheless he seems to have a Kraftwerk type grip on those sounds you hear out of synths that you would think one could never find a use for. "Rusting Robots" leads off the album with a simple hopping rhythm. The use of odd sounds on "Netherspace" captures a dulling hypnotic feel. Bruce's "hit" on the Russian radio program Radio Tangerine Wave, "The 7 Astronauts", can be found on side 2, along with two other rather long pieces. Again, if you want high production, look elsewhere. To quote Bruce: "Remove the tape hiss and line noise from my recordings? How would they know it's my music then?!?" If you are curious about those artists who dwell down below, yet who have the courage to show what they do, this may be to your liking.
