AllMusic Review by

Orlando-based DJ Greg Lentz spins and records under the name BMF; he' s locally famous as a member of the Eighth Dimension crew and a co-founder of the weekly Phat-N-Jazzy club night, which started in 1994. His latest effort brings together a number of his hometown colleagues, including Swamburger, Beef Wellington, and the increasingly marketable Q-Burns Abstract Message. Lentz has an admirably broad range of musical tastes, and therefore a widely varied palette from which to draw -- everything from jazzy funk (Beef Wellington's "Feel Fantabulous") to virtuosic turntablism (Pimp Daddy Nash's "2000 Zero Zero") and straight-ahead hip-hop (Swamburger's "So-Socialize"). Where many continuous-mix discs end up blurring into a sludgy mess of undifferentiated beats and monotonous moods, Sound in the Round is a beautifully programmed excursion into the depths of Orlando beat magic.
