AllMusic Review by

Consisting of over a dozen volumes, the Bellevue label's Soul series is riddled with poor live recordings and woefully inferior studio re-recordings, the latter of which are not specified in the track listings. These should be avoided, as there are many series and box sets -- such as Soul Hits of the '70s, Sweet Soul Music, and Can You Dig It? The '70s Soul Experience -- that are legitimate. Soul: Wonderful World contains re-recorded versions of Ben E. King's "Don't Play That Song," the Delfonics' "La-La Means I Love You," the Supremes' "You Can't Hurry Love," and the Drifters' "Up on the Roof," among others. Only a handful of the selections are original studio versions.
