The Cleopatra label's Snakebites: A Tribute to Whitesnake doesn't credit its performers very prominently at all; they're actually a loose conglomeration of rock veterans, many of whom are connected to bands who had at least a moment in the spotlight. Their versions of 12 Whitesnake tunes are, therefore, solid, professional, and workmanlike, but rarely all that exceptional. Snakebites isn't a bad listen, but then again, it isn't really an essential purchase unless you're a really devoted Whitesnake fan.
