AllMusic Review by

This budget CD reissue features vibraphonist Lionel Hampton during three different periods. The first six of the dozen songs are taken from the summer of 1944 and have solos from trumpeters Joe Morris and Snooky Young, trombonist Fred Beckett, the tenors of Arnett Cobb and Fred Simon (who have a battle on "Lady Be Good"), pianist Milt Buckner and guitarist Billy Mackell in addition to a vocal from Dinah Washington on "The Man I Love." Hampton is also heard on three songs from 1960-61 and three from 1977. Most of the music is available in more complete form elsewhere, and the recording quality is a bit streaky, but the results should please his fans.
