Layne Redmond is the director and creator of The Mob of Angels, a group of musicians who are reviving the ancient Mediterranean tradition of women's ceremonial drumming and ritual celebrations. Using one of the world's oldest known instruments, the small hand held frame drum, they create a contemporary music that pulses with the rhythms of an archaic language. In addition to the drums, we hear the eerie, siren song of windwands, harmonic overtone singing, the wail of Chinese horn and the haunting voice of Amitava Chatterjee. Layne And The Angels bring us non-traditional music that speaks of prehistoric traditions and rituals that celebrate the feminine.
