Silver, despite having Brent Mydland (later the Grateful Dead's Keyboardist) and Tom Leadon (brother of the Eagles' Bernie Leadon) as band members, didn't live up to its possibilities. Wham Bam (also known as Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang), a fairly weak slice of bubblegum pop, was the hit from the album. Given to the band by Arista because the company didn't hear a single among the other tracks, the band reportedly wasn't too thrilled with the song, but had to acquiese. The rest of the album is unassuming, if relatively unexciting, soft southern California country rock. Greg Collier's contributions are the best of the lot, but Mydland's tedious Musician (It's Not An Easy Life) ended up being the other single.
