Even though this is Don Huonot's debut and the band's music isn't particularly extraordinary, the group had all the needed resources to record Silmänkääntötemppu. Unfortunately, it suffers from problems that are quite typical for debut albums. Don Huonot's concept is rather innovative and interesting but, as the bandmembers were very young when Silmänkääntötemppu was recorded, the album falls into easy solutions and it seems to be a bit confusing and weird when taken in its entirety. Still, the songs are somehow good: The melodies sound fine but Ahola's lyrics are confusing -- since they are childish gibberish. This can be easily forgiven, however; Silmänkääntötemppu is just a typical debut album and Don Huonot improved its music significantly after this album.
