At some point after the massive success of his 1990 song "Verdammt, Ich Lieb' Dich", singer Matthias Reim lost all his money due to mismanagement and had to deal with a debt of a reported 14 million Euros. Even though he kept touring and releasing albums, the years have been overshadowed by his insolvency proceedings. The 2010 album Sieben Leben is Reim's first record after clearing his debt, and he, together with co-writer Joachim Horn and arranger/producer Thorsten Brötzmann, does not stray from his successful schlager-meets-rock approach. There are two guest appearances on the album: on "Die Wilden Tränen (Salty Rain)", he sings a duet with Bonnie Tyler -- the only English-language track on the album -- while on the Mediterranean-tinged "Du und Ich (Junto a Ti)", Reim is accompanied by singer Azuquita.
