You know how some all-star games are great, but most of them really are nothing you'd remember again at any point in your lifetime? This might be a case like that. Top-notch stylists Dave Ruffy (Ruts/Ruts D.C., Aztec Camera) and Malcolm Ross (Josef K, Orange Juice, and also Aztec Camera, thus the connection) team up with Malcolm's wife to make bouncy, light pop-dance music. On paper this sounded like it could be a real sleeper release, the kind you can't stop playing, but in practice, this is really not much -- but it's made nicely palatable by strong feminine vocals. Side projects can sometimes yield a fresh collaboration that puts unique talents to work. Others, although a nice enough buy, just aren't going to make you forget the sheer brilliance of their work in their own bands. This is the latter. For the biggest fans and completists only, in other words.
