Shake It Up isn't Memory Dean's debut album (it's their fourth), but it's their first for anything resembling a major label, and it's that hungry-for-a-hit, step-up-to-the-plate edginess that makes these 13 tracks from this bunch of Atlanta regional favorites shine so brightly. Edgy on tracks like "Dying to Live," moody and reflective on tunes like "Ghost" and "Pain," working the dancefloor voodoo on "So Complicated," while being downright poppy on "Best of My Life," "Screaming from the Towers," and "I Should've Known," this album is rife with styles, takes and attitude. There's a lot to listen for here.
