This set is an excellent showcase for Armen Donelian's piano and writing. The music is advanced hard bop leading to post bop and, although "Season's Change" sounds like it could have been written by Chick Corea, the compositions in general are quite original. Donelian's piano playing is versatile (ranging from boppish on "Resurrection" to hinting at Keith Jarret), there are plenty of fine improvisations from Dick Oatts on tenor and soprano and trumpeter Barry Danielian, and the rhythm section is tight. This is one of Armen Donelian's best all-round group recordings and easily recommended to modern jazz collectors.
