AllMusic Review by

Seasons: Piano Solos collects the George Winston albums Autumn, Winter Into Spring, and Summer, as well as the DVD Seasons in Concert. Fans will have most of this material -- nothing is unreleased except for "Old Friends," the proud contemplation on Summer. (The bonus tracks on Autumn and Winter Into Spring were originally issued as part of those recordings' 20th anniversary editions.) The DVD does feature an additional 25 minutes of footage though, as well as performances from Winston on harmonica and Hawaiian slack key guitar. And Winston has written liner notes for this set, giving insight into his inspirations for each album, often drilling all the way down to a song-based level. So in that respect Seasons is a solid pickup for fans. But the casual Winston listener will still look to the composer's individual albums, or 1998's All the Seasons of George Winston, which featured highlights from various releases. [Seasons: Piano Solos also included an enhanced feature that allowed the download of sheet music for one song from each album in the set.]
