One of the more unusual aspects of a band of Tool's caliber is their attention and control over the presentation, right down to the last graphic on the album cover or the last note on the actual recording, painstakingly scrutinizing each and every detail to give it some sort of significance and value. And while "Schism" is a relatively old recording despite this DVD single's 2005 release date, the video contained inside the disc makes it no less relevant and bests a large majority of videos released that year. Guitarist/special effects wizard/producer Adam Jones delivers yet another frightening short film based around the group's music, complete with the trademark surrealist special effects that are equally engaging and horrific. With a special commentary track by the Jesus Lizard's David Yow and a special feature instrumental jam session, this disc is well worth seeking out for a Tool fan of any degree, casual or completist.
