AllMusic Review by

The first signing to Hawthorne Heights singer J.T. Woodruff's Carbon Copy Media label, the Ohio band Ellison have similar influences to the Heights, as well as to Jimmy Eat World. Tuneful, sensitive vocals on well-constructed songs like "Joanna Open Your Eyes" are underscored by a tough-yet-tender rock backdrop, while "Holiday Drive Up" is cheerful, nostalgic indie-pop, "Love Takes and Breaks" is a rueful tale of love, yearning, and leaving, and on "Tired of Pretending," singer Josh Hill displays the world-weariness of someone twice his age.
