AllMusic Review by

The gamelan luang, which combines bronze and wooden "xylophones" with a tuned gong set and other percussion, is mostly played at funerals. Its grave melodies and the contrast of wood and bronze in this increasingly rare type of gamelan are both beguiling and haunting. They are well-caught in this very fine recording of two extended pieces. The bare-bones English notes touch on the major points.
